Job summary

WelbeHealth seeks a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a cloud-native, Azure-based engineering team focused on scalable healthcare solutions. You will guide architecture, code quality, and delivery while embedding security by design and AI-assisted engineering practices.

You will oversee a multi-disciplinary team, drive technical ownership, and collaborate with Product, Security, and Architecture to align outcomes with organizational priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of object-oriented software development experience with C#, .NET Core, and React.js on the front end.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Deep Azure cloud experience, including API Apps, Logic Apps, Functions, REST services, and Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Experience designing and delivering microservices architecture at scale.
  • Strong DevSecOps principles, with security built into code, CI/CD, and cloud from the start.
  • Automated testing discipline and experience designing REST APIs and solutions that span multiple data sources.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and practices, such as LLM-based developer tooling, code generation, and workflow automation.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with iterative development cycles and rapid proof-of-concept delivery.
  • Business process management (BPM) experience with Camunda preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior-most engineer for the team: design components, write high-quality code, troubleshoot complex issues, perform rigorous code reviews, and own the team's technical roadmap, leading end-to-end architecture, development, and delivery of technical solutions for internal and external healthcare systems.
  • Build scalable, cloud-native solutions on Azure using microservices architecture and the .NET stack.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted coding across the team: establish how engineers use agentic development tools for scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and legacy code comprehension, define the code review standards that keep generated code secure and maintainable, and hold the bar on engineering judgment rather than volume of output.
  • Own the engineering practices for building AI-backed features: context and retrieval design over WelbeHealth data, evaluation and monitoring, PHI-safe prompting and logging, and the human review points.
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Cloud, Security, and other engineering teams to define integration strategies and solution blueprints.
  • Translate complex technical designs into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders, as well as work closely with business partners to align technical outcomes with organizational priorities.
  • Ensure all development aligns with HIPAA, PHI/PII-safe engineering, and healthcare interoperability requirements.
  • Implement secure software design patterns, RBAC, data governance, encryption standards, and cloud compliance controls, as well as apply strong engineering DevSecOps principles, building security into code, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure from the start.
  • Manage direct reports, including hiring, training, supervising, mentoring, and removing barriers so the team consistently meets established goals.

Job description

WelbeHealth is a value-based healthcare organization that’s transforming the future of senior care by providing an all-inclusive care option to our most vulnerable senior population. We step in as the care provider and care planner that work to keep our participants within their communities, out of institutions, and cared for like family, all while receiving the healthcare and social services needed to thrive.

The Engineering Manager is a hands-on technical leader that drives the delivery of production-grade solutions, in partnership with multiple teams. This role mirrors technical leadership, engineering rigor serving as the technical anchor for a dedicated team while enabling broader organizational scaling. The Engineering Manager builds scalable, cloud-native solutions on Azure using microservices architecture and the .NET stack, embeds DevSecOps and compliance by default, and champions AI-assisted engineering as everyday practice. Working within WelbeHealth architecture standards and design patterns, this role leverages the agile life cycle for solutions deployment in all projects, objectively assesses quality and logistics production readiness, and regularly and directly collaborates with the Solutions Architecture, Security, Application Management, Infrastructure Management, and Customer Service teams.

This role is different because the Engineering Manager at WelbeHealth:

  • Combines hands-on engineering leadership with strategic technical ownership, providing the opportunity to build and scale production-grade solutions while shaping engineering standards, technical direction, and best practices
  • Leads engineering at the intersection of healthcare, cloud technology, and AI, with the opportunity to modernize complex healthcare systems, embed DevSecOps and security by design, and establish how AI-assisted engineering is adopted across high-impact technology initiatives

We care about our team members. That’s why we offer:

  • Medical insurance coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision)
  • Work/life balance - We mean it! 17 days of personal time off (PTO), 12 holidays observed annually, and 6 sick days
  • 401K savings + match
  • Comprehensive compensation package including base pay and bonus
  • And additional benefits!

On the day-to-day, you will:

  • Act as the senior-most engineer for the team: design components, write high-quality code, troubleshoot complex issues, perform rigorous code reviews, and own the team's technical roadmap, leading end-to-end architecture, development, and delivery of technical solutions for internal and external healthcare systems
  • Build scalable, cloud-native solutions on Azure using microservices architecture and the .NET stack
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted coding across the team: establish how engineers use agentic development tools for scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and legacy code comprehension, define the code review standards that keep generated code secure and maintainable, and hold the bar on engineering judgment rather than volume of output
  • Own the engineering practices for building AI-backed features: context and retrieval design over WelbeHealth data, evaluation and monitoring, PHI-safe prompting and logging, and the human review points
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Cloud, Security, and other engineering teams to define integration strategies and solution blueprints
  • Translate complex technical designs into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders, as well as work closely with business partners to align technical outcomes with organizational priorities
  • Ensure all development aligns with HIPAA, PHI/PII-safe engineering, and healthcare interoperability requirements
  • Implement secure software design patterns, RBAC, data governance, encryption standards, and cloud compliance controls, as well as apply strong engineering DevSecOps principles, building security into code, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure from the start
  • Manage direct reports, including hiring, training, supervising, mentoring, and removing barriers so the team consistently meets established goals

Job requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of object-oriented software development experience with C#, .NET Core, and React.js on the front end
  • Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members

  • Business process management (BPM) experience with Camunda preferred

We’re seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager who is energized by solving complex technical challenges, building scalable cloud-native solutions, developing high-performing engineering teams, and using AI to transform how software is designed and delivered. If you’re ready to join a team that values both its participants and team members, we’d love to hear from you!

Compensation consists of base salary plus bonus. WelbeHealth offers a competitive total rewards package that includes a 401(k) match, comprehensive healthcare coverage, and a broad range of additional benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and relevant qualifications.
