Job summary

Grifols in Clayton, NC seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the East Coast Applied Process group within the capital projects engineering department. You will steer design, procurement and commissioning of process equipment across Clayton, Montreal and Los Angeles sites, ensuring regulatory compliance and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plan for purchasing/fabricating process equipment for new or remodeled manufacturing areas in US/Canada.
• Oversee design, budget, procurement, construction, FAT, TOPs and commissioning plans for process equipment.
• Prepare bid requests and evaluate proposals; oversee contractors during construction/installation.
• Lead fabrication shop with two skid designers and two welders for custom process skids.
• Ensure safety, OSHA, regulatory and environmental compliance for projects.
• Use Jira and MS Project to prepare schedules and report progress weekly.
• Collaborate across interdepartmental and international teams.
• Recruit, train, evaluate and develop employees.

Overview

The candidate will be manager of the East Coast Applied Process group in the Clayton, NC capital projects engineering department. The manager will strategically execute the design, procurement and implementation of process equipment to meet process requirements provided by the Global Process Group supporting Clayton, Montreal and Los Angeles sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plan for purchasing/fabricating process equipment for new or remodeled manufacturing processing areas or facilities in the United States and Canada.
• Responsible for user requirements, design, budget, procurement, construction, factory acceptance test plans and commissioning plans of process equipment and facilities leading to successful process validation and licensure.
• Prepare bid requests and evaluate proposals to select vendors/contractors. The manager would oversee contractors during construction & installation.
• As manager of the fabrication shop, manage the resources of two skid designers and two welders to fabricate custom process skids including mechanical/electrical completion, FAT, TOPs and onsite commissioning.
• Responsible for safety, OSHA, regulatory and/or environmental compliance of projects.
• Using Jira and Microsoft Project, prepare schedules, communicate progress of projects weekly
• Work effectively in interdepartmental and international teams
• Responsible for the recruitment, training, evaluation and development of employees.
• Professional development includes working towards completing professional licenses and advance levels of education.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field of study required.
• Master's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Professional registration and/or certifications, as appropriate.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of comprehensive engineering experience in a medium-sized organization
• Biotech or Chemical industry experience preferred.
• 15+ years of engineering experience preferred, including demonstrated leadership experience in technical and/or people management roles.

Occupational Demands

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals.
