Job summary

Grifols seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the East Coast Applied Process group in Clayton, NC, directing design, procurement and implementation of process equipment to meet program goals across Clayton, Montreal and Los Angeles sites.

This senior role requires extensive biotech/chemical engineering experience, strong project leadership, safety and regulatory expertise, and the ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Professional licensing/certifications as appropriate.
• Biotech or Chemical industry experience preferred.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plan for purchasing/fabricating process equipment for new or remodeled manufacturing processing areas or facilities in the United States and Canada.
• Responsible for user requirements, design, budget, procurement, construction, FATs and commissioning plans of process equipment and facilities leading to successful process validation and licensure.
• Prepare bid requests and evaluate proposals to select vendors/contractors. The manager would oversee contractors during construction & installation.
• As manager of the fabrication shop, manage the resources of two skid designers and two welders to fabricate custom process skids including mechanical/electrical completion, FAT, TOPs and onsite commissioning.
• Responsible for safety, OSHA, regulatory and/or environmental compliance of projects.
• Using Jira and Microsoft Project, prepare schedules, communicate progress of projects weekly.
• Work effectively in interdepartmental and international teams
• Responsible for the recruitment, training, evaluation and development of employees.
• Professional development includes working towards completing professional licenses and advance levels of education.

Overview:

The candidate will be manager of the East Coast Applied Process group in the Clayton, NC capital projects engineering department. The manager will strategically execute the design, procurement and implementation of process equipment to meet process requirements provided by the Global Process Group supporting Clayton, Montreal and Los Angeles sites.

Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field of study required.
• Master's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Professional registration and/or certifications, as appropriate.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of comprehensive engineering experience in a medium-sized organization
• Biotech or Chemical industry experience preferred.
• 15+ years of engineering experience preferred, including demonstrated leadership experience in technical and/or people management roles.

Occupational Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
