Power Electronics Engineering Section Manager

Relocation Package Provided

Industry: Critical Power / UPS / Battery Systems

Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

I’m partnered with a leading company in the Power Electronics and Critical Power Industry as they look to hire a Power Electronics Engineering Section Manager. This is a key leadership role supporting their commercial UPS and Battery product lines — the systems that keep data centers, hospitals, and critical infrastructure running reliably.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in power electronics, UPS systems, battery energy storage, or power conversion, who also enjoys developing engineering talent and driving product improvement initiatives.

Why This Role Is Compelling
  • You’ll lead an established engineering team working on high-reliability power systems used in mission‑critical environments.
  • The role is both strategic and hands‑on — overseeing engineering scope while remaining close to product performance, testing, and innovation.
  • You will have direct impact on product evolution, operational reliability, and cross‑functional collaboration across R&D, Quality, Service, Sales, and global product groups.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the engineering activities for existing UPS and Battery product families.
  • Mentor and develop a team of engineers, supporting training, performance feedback, and career growth.
  • Drive product enhancements and improvements to align with business and technical objectives.
  • Oversee testing and characterization of UPS and battery systems, ensuring high quality and reliability.
  • Support field service, quality, and customer teams on technical issues and root‑cause investigations.
  • Collaborate globally with overseas R&D teams on product development and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in project bids and reviews, ensuring technical alignment and feasibility.
  • Manage section budgets, resource planning, and organizational efficiency.
What They’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 7+ years working with UPS systems, battery solutions, or power quality / power conversion equipment.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership / management experience.
  • Strong background in power electronics (inverters, converters, switching devices like IGBT/MOSFET/SiC/GaN).
  • Proficiency in lab testing, instrumentation, and technical reporting.
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Has designed or supported medium‑to‑high power UPS or BESS systems.
  • Loves developing people and improving engineering processes.
  • Can interface confidently with manufacturing, quality, sales, and service teams.
  • Wants to have a voice in product evolution and technology direction.
