Perplexity is seeking an Engineering Manager for Multimodal to lead the team building realtime voice and multimodal experiences. You will hire engineers, set technical direction, and drive products at the intersection of voice, vision, and agents.

You will own the team's roadmap, decide which experiences to build next, and ensure scalable infrastructure. Experience leading teams in fast-moving environments and strong product judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience managing engineering teams and performance reviews.
• Strong backend or distributed systems background.
• Designing and operating production services in scalable AWS environments.
• Led teams to ship complex projects in fast-moving settings.
• Translate user problems into clear technical priorities.
• Clear cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead realtime voice and multimodal experiences from prototype to production.
• Own roadmap and determine next features and infrastructure.
• Hire and develop engineers with ownership on problems.
• Shape architecture for voice experience end-to-end.
• Lead systems turning conversations into actions with tools and tasks.
• Handle latency, reliability, scaling and session recovery.
• Collaborate with SDK, client, infra, and model teams.
• Iterate using feedback and performance data after launch.
