Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering and lean manufacturing initiatives across a complex plant, including high-volume stamping, fabrication, and distribution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or related field
• 7+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing environment
• 5+ years of supervising individuals or projects with decision-making responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and project management (PMI)
• Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and PM software; PMP or Lean Six Sigma a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and implementation of new manufacturing and distribution processes, including facility space layouts
• Craft and communicate a clear engineering vision aligned with customer and business needs
• Guide strategic investments and operational transformation with lean principles
• Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and ergonomic methods to optimize material flow and productivity
• Collaborate with safety, quality, operations, and supply chain to support SQDC goals
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing and distribution processes using engineering and data analysis
• Drive initiatives to improve safety, product quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness
• Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams and promote continuous improvement
• Oversee capital project planning, budgeting, and execution and report progress to senior leadership
