Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Nampa, ID is seeking an Engineering Manager I to lead discipline teams, guide portfolio planning, and ensure cost, schedule, and performance objectives are met.

You will attract, hire, and develop engineers, present at internal forums, and apply SEL Values and World Class Manufacturing principles to daily work. Occasional travel to SEL facilities for training and startup activities is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• 8+ years of related engineering or management experience.
• Strong technical knowledge in one or more engineering disciplines/technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to design/produce/support successful products/processes.
• Ability to manage product line/process problems requiring creativity, ingenuity, and guidance from manager.
• Strong desire to develop employees and lead projects.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL; negative drug test result(s).

Responsibilities

• Leads on discipline/technology/process, keeping cost, schedule, and performance objectives in mind.
• Assists portfolio planning and long-term strategy.
• Performs management activities to attract, hire, supervise, and develop individual contributors to meet the goals of the group.
• Participates at external meetings and presents at large internal meetings/forums.
• Models, teaches, and applies SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
