Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. seeks a Software Development Manager for the Language Experience team. You will lead engineers to build language toolchains, shared libraries, and build tools used across Amazon.

You will mentor staff, drive the team roadmap, and ensure backward compatibility while aligning with upstream open source projects. You will define engineering strategy, partner with product teams, and manage lifecycle from development to live operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience overall.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related experience.
• Knowledge of the full software/hardware/networks lifecycle including coding standards, reviews, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a strong team of software engineers to build and maintain language toolchains and build tools.
• Mentor and coach engineers with expertise in language internals, compilers, runtimes, and package management.
• Own the team's roadmap and drive backward compatibility and upgrades.
• Set technical direction with principal engineers and align with engineering teams.
• Define metrics and strategies to improve development velocity, quality, and reliability.
