Job summary

The Vanguard Group is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Advice Portfolio Experience team. This player-coach role leads a high-performing engineering group delivering portfolio rebalancing capabilities used by PAS Advisors, while shaping technology strategy and delivery across cloud-native AWS platforms.

You will hire, coach, and develop engineers, align delivery with strategic objectives, and drive DevOps, reliability, and architectural governance across multiple initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training/experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience leading engineering teams with strong technical engagement.
• Proven ability to coach engineers and drive cross-functional outcomes.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering production systems and incident response.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and modern software delivery practices.
• Understanding AI-enabled tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of engineers with a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
• Manage talent processes: hiring, performance management, development planning, career growth.
• Partner with product managers/architects to align capacity with business objectives.
• Provide technical leadership across design, development, integration and performance optimization.
• Guide selection and implementation of scalable tech solutions and best practices.
• Ensure delivery commitments, quality and operational excellence.
• Review designs, architecture decisions and engineering standards.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies and business value to stakeholders.
• Lead incident response and remediation to improve reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering and DevOps practices.
