Job summary

twiceasnice Recruiting is seeking an Engineering Manager for a leading industrial equipment client in Minneapolis, MN. You will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for crane systems and related equipment, driving engineering execution and process improvements.

You will shape scheduling, engineering standards, and product consistency, partnering with sales, manufacturing, and field operations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in industrial equipment engineering
  • 5+ years experience managing a multi-disciplinary team in manufacturing
  • Experience working with customers on engineer-to-order/custom engineered products
  • Experience using ERP system for engineering scheduling and workload management

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, structural, electrical)
  • Oversee design, analysis, and release of crane systems to customer specs
  • Drive process improvements in engineering workflows and documentation
  • Manage workload, priorities, and scheduling to meet commitments
  • Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and field ops on technical needs
  • Ensure designs meet codes, quality standards, and cost targets

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: ~45 hours per week

Travel: Travel 1 day/week to manufacturing facility; occasional travel to customer sites

Our client in the industrial equipment industry is looking for an Engineering Manager to add to their team. You will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for the design and support of engineer-to-order crane systems and related equipment. Successful candidates will have demonstrated success in improving engineering processes and execution through strategic leadership and team management. This role is accountable for engineering execution, team development, and driving improvements in engineering processes, scheduling, and product consistency.   • Lead and develop multi-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, structural, and electrical)
  • Establish clear roles, accountabilities, and performance expectations from the ground up
  • Build cross-functional depth and contingency capability within the team
  • Oversee design, analysis, release of crane systems and components to customer specifications
  • Support sales, manufacturing, and field operations with technical expertise
  • Own engineering workload, priorities, and scheduling
  • Ensure designs meet customer commitments, applicable codes, and internal quality standards
  • Improve visibility and predictability of engineering deliverables
  • Drive process improvements in engineering workflows, design standards, and documentation
  • Reduce rework, errors, and variability
  • Implement best practices for design review and change management
  • Partner closely with internal teams to improve product manufacturability and cost
  • Support continuous improvement and align engineering output with business priorities
  • Promote standardization of components and systems where appropriate
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal design criteria
  • Participate in weekly leadership meetings; occasionally interface with customers on projects
  • Spend regular time on shop floor to maintain awareness of manufacturing realities

  • 7+ years experience in industrial equipment engineering required
  • 5+ years experience managing a multi-disciplinary team in manufacturing environment required
  • Experience working with customers on engineer-to-order/custom engineered products required
  • Experience using ERP system for engineering scheduling and workload management required
