GitLab is hiring an Engineering Manager for the Gitaly team. You will guide senior and staff engineers in building, maintaining, and expanding Gitaly, GitLab's Git data storage tier, while balancing architecture with product priorities.

The role emphasizes technical rigor, ownership, and effective communication across distributed teams, with opportunities for growth and impact on the platform's long-term viability.

Competenze

• Experience managing engineering teams with hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Management philosophy centered on engineer agency, ownership, and credible decision-making.
• Able to guide specialized engineers through ambiguity and high-stakes tradeoffs.
• Strong written communication and asynchronous collaboration across distributed, multi-timezone teams.
• Hands-on background in version control, distributed systems, storage engines or related infra.
