Job summary

Carbon Robotics in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager (Frontend/Mobile) to lead the team building our web and mobile interfaces for the LaserWeeder and Carbon Autonomy platforms. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical contribution and architectural decisions.

You will mentor engineers, drive end-to-end delivery, collaborate with product and hardware teams, and spend time in the field to validate real-world performance on farms. Office-based, 5 days a week.

Qualifications

• Experience managing frontend and/or mobile engineering teams.
• Ability to operate as Lead Engineer in your area of expertise.
• Strong understanding of deploying apps that integrate with backend services and robotics.
• Excellent communication across multidisciplinary teams.
• Leadership style suited to in‑office, highly collaborative environment.
• Willingness to spend time in the field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team building web and mobile applications interfacing with cloud services and robotics.
• Contribute directly to system architecture and code; deeply technical, hands-on role.
• Partner cross-functionally with product managers and mechanical, electrical, and backend engineering teams.
• Drive end-to-end SDLC: planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment.
• Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure on-time delivery to high standards.
• Mentor engineers and elevate the team’s capabilities.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
• Foster ownership, fast iteration, and accountability in a startup environment.
• Participate in field testing, including on-site farm visits.
• Build an in-office culture (5 days/week).
