Engineering Manager for IAM (Identity and Access Management)

About the Role

Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, is seeking an Engineering Manager for IAM to develop high-performing Go and Python services and secure identity and access management solutions across our products. This role involves working with upstream open source projects and internal teams to deliver software deployable on bare metal, cloud, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and hire a high-performance software engineering team.
• Design and implement complex, distributed systems.
• Work with container technology and Kubernetes.
• Ensure software security and performance.
• Review code, mentor team members, and manage product backlog.
• Participate in all software development phases: design, coding, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with open source communities and industry teams.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in software engineering teams.
• Experience with Go and Python development.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, security, and performance.
• Familiarity with container tech and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of IAM technologies is a plus.
• Excellent academic record and communication skills.
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year.

This role is remote, based in the EMEA or AMER regions.
