About the Product
Anterior is on a mission to transform healthcare administration, making it seamless and invisible so clinicians can focus on delivering care. We've built an AI-powered platform designed by clinicians, for clinicians, to simplify administrative workflows and improve patient outcomes. By combining clinical expertise with cutting-edge technology, we're revolutionizing healthcare operations with responsible AI.We're growing rapidly and are backed by world-class investors including Sequoia, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), and Neo along with notable angels including the founders of DeepMind, Google AI, and Inflection AI.Anterior is improving the experience of healthcare for everyone. We're working on the cutting edge of using technology to make clinical decision-making frictionless. We're building exciting tech for huge customers and we trust in the foundations: keep it simple, build strong foundations, and the rest will follow.
The Team
At Anterior, engineers share a strong "sense of product" and solve meaningful problems that simplify healthcare workflows. We collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions guided by best practices and modular design. We're building a dedicated deployments team focused on deploying our platform into large US enterprise healthcare environments. This team works closely with customers and our core platform engineers to ensure seamless, reliable integrations into complex payer systems of record.
About You
You have a passion for doing things The Right Way, you believe Less is More, you want to focus on the foundations of system design and architecture (pacelc, consistency guarantees), you care as much about the code you do not write, you're tired of the hype treadmill and care about the fundamentals. You have battle scars from over-engineered and underperforming slop, and you care about writing code that lasts. Your depth is in building integrations, APIs, and data pipelines that connect complex systems together reliably. You've worked with enterprise customers, dealt with messy data, conflicting sources of truth, and deduplication challenges. You've owned integration design decisions end-to-end — from scoping requirements with a customer to shipping it to production and making sure it holds up.You may be coming from a health tech company, a scale-up doing enterprise deployments, or a platform team that built the connective tissue between systems — what matters is that you've navigated real integration complexity and you want ownership over what you build. You've also stepped into a leadership role — you have 8 years of experience as an engineering manager, owning mentorship, performance reviews, career development, and team health. You know how to keep a small team shipping while growing the people on it. This isn't a tech lead role — we need someone whose focus is on developing engineers, not just reviewing their code. Ideally, you've done this at a US-based startup or on a team embedded within a US engineering org, so you're familiar with the pace, communication norms, and expectations.Come share your proudest firefighting story with us in an interview, bring your GitHub, and let's see if we're a good fit.
About the Role
As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of remote engineers responsible for deploying our AI platform into large US enterprise healthcare environments. You'll own the team's delivery, quality, and growth — while staying close enough to the technical work to unblock, prioritize, and make good calls.A day's work may include:
- Managing and developing a team of remote deployment engineers — running 11s, performance reviews, and ensuring the team is growing alongside the work
- Owning your team's delivery across customer deployments — scoping work, setting priorities, and making sure integrations ship on time and hold up in production
- Working directly with US enterprise healthcare customers alongside your engineers to understand their architecture, scope integration requirements, and translate them into technical specs
- Ensuring your team has what they need to deliver — removing blockers, escalating risks early, and keeping deployment timelines on track
- Collaborating closely with the core platform team in New York to ensure integration needs inform platform architecture
- Building repeatable deployment processes and playbooks that make each customer rollout faster than the last
- Owning hiring for your team — defining what you need, screening candidates, running interviews, and making the call on who joins
Tech
- Langs: Python / TS
- Infra: AWS, Nix
- Healthcare data: FHIR, HL7 (experience preferred but not required — you'll learn fast if you have strong API and data pipeline fundamentals)
What we're looking for
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals — APIs, data pipelines, distributed systems
- Experience integrating with enterprise systems, ideally in healthcare (payer, EHR, claims) but complex enterprise integrations in other industries count too
- Comfort working directly with customers and translating ambiguous requirements into clean technical solutions
- Experience with data quality challenges — deduplication, schema mapping, reconciliation across multiple sources of truth
- Strong written and spoken communication in English — you'll be collaborating with teams and customers across time zones
- Ability to work autonomously from detailed technical specs while flagging blockers and ambiguity early
- Timezone compatibility with US East Coast (ET) working hours
- 1-2 years of engineering management experience — performance reviews, career development, mentoring, hiring, and team health. This is a people management role, not a tech lead role
- Python or TypeScript background preferred — you should be working in the same stack as the engineers you're managing
- Prior experience working at or with a US-based company is strongly preferred
