Job summary

Vesuvius in Champaign, Illinois seeks a seasoned Flow Control Systems Engineering Manager to lead the engineering department. You will plan, assign, and review work, guiding mechanical equipment design for customer feasibility studies, installations, and service documentation.

You will oversee R&D product releases, develop options, and ensure quality across manuals and field support. Travel up to 15% and leadership responsibilities are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in manufacturing or industrial field with 3 years at Vesuvius or similar steel industry company.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Creo, DraftSight, SolidWorks and MS Office suite.
• Understanding of steel making processes and flow control systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% of time.

Responsibilities

• Manage, plan and delegate department assignments.
• Oversee mechanical equipment design and adaptation for client studies and installations.
• Review product releases from R&D and generate installation, operation, and maintenance manuals.
• Identify and implement continual product improvements based on field and manufacturing feedback.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers, Sales Regions, Manufacturing, QA, Purchasing and Suppliers.
• Supervise and develop Flow Control Systems Engineering staff and coordinate interdepartmental communication.
