Job summary

Cartesia in San Francisco is seeking a leader to own data systems, datasets, and research for training data excellence in real-time multimodal AI. You will guide the Data team, overseeing data infrastructure, annotation models, and data-centric modeling to improve model quality.

You’ll start by managing 6–8 engineers/researchers and grow toward ~12 as the company scales. This role demands proven data leadership and hands-on experience with scalable data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience leading a data team of 6+ people.
• Hands-on familiarity with large-scale data processing, storage, and systems.
• Track record of building and leading data efforts within modeling projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-caliber data infrastructure and research team.
• Set technical direction for processing, storage, and serving multimodal data at web scale.
• Drive creation of state-of-the-art pre-training datasets and curation strategies.
• Establish empirical data quality practices to inform dataset decisions.
• Collaborate with modeling and research to translate data work into better models.
• Hire, mentor, and scale the team from a handful to a full organization.
