Job summary

BackOps in San Francisco is seeking an Engineering Manager for Core Product Engineering to lead a team of product engineers building the reusable workflow automations that power customer operations.

You will own the product evolution end-to-end, partner with Product and Design, and shape how AI agents are built and deployed, while maintaining reliability and fast iteration in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing engineers with strong hands-on background.
• Deep grounding in software fundamentals: system design, code quality, testing, and release practice.
• Track record of shipping quality software predictably.
• Strong product and design instincts with opinions in design reviews.
• Experience building with AI agents in production and measuring success.

Responsibilities

• Hire, lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of product engineers.
• Own the evolution of BackOps core product end-to-end.
• Oversee the software development lifecycle: architecture, design, code review, testing, release, and post-production.
• Drive predictable delivery and raise engineering quality.
• Collaborate with Product and Design and engage with customers.
• Guide AI agents development and team fluency with AI tooling.
• Champion reliability, safety, and performance in live environments.
