Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead the Content Tools platform, overseeing API-first tooling for legal content. You will manage a team of about 10 engineers, shaping governance, tooling standards, and CI/CD excellence across distributed teams.

You will drive full-stack operations, onboarding, and on-call disciplines while collaborating with TR Labs and CoCounsel Engineering to meet agentic workflow needs. Hybrid work and strong compensation accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in technical leadership or engineering management
• Demonstrated experience designing and operating API-first systems with a product mindset toward developer experience and internal customer satisfaction
• Proficiency in Python and strong software engineering fundamentals, API design, testing strategy, and CI/CD practices
• Experience building and governing shared platform infrastructure in a distributed development model

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end engineering roadmap for Content Tools, including design, implementation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud operations
• Lead an API-first, contract-driven approach with versioned CLI contracts and ownership metadata
• Establish contribution standards and governance for distributed teams to build tools consistently
• Develop an IR evaluation framework and ensure performance regressions are caught in CI/CD
• Oversee on-call rotations, SLO definitions, incident response, and health monitoring for production tool services
• Manage platform infrastructure including cloud services, observability tooling, and multi-tenant controls
• Partner with Labs and CoCounsel Engineering to align tools with agentic workflows
• Build and maintain a centralized tool registry with machine-readable descriptions
