We're seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager who can both meet the technical depth of our Azure Cloud Engineering needs and lead a high-performance team across cloud infrastructure, software engineering, cybersecurity, and data engineering disciplines. This role will drive cross-domain initiatives, develop robust cloud-native systems, and play a critical leadership role in enabling our enterprise-wide cloud migration and analytics strategy.
Position Overview
As the Engineering Manager for Cloud Modernization & Data Integration, you will manage a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering scalable data platforms, cloud-native infrastructure, and secure modernization of legacy systems into Azure and AWS environments. You will be responsible for technical oversight, delivery execution, architecture guidance, and team development. This role requires deep technical knowledge in Azure data pipelines and cloud architecture, as well as strong leadership, program coordination, and Agile execution experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of Database Engineers, Software Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers (Azure and AWS), and Cybersecurity Engineers in delivering cloud modernization and data integration solutions
- Own technical oversight of Azure cloud-native data pipelines, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability
- Guide the development of ETL workflows, event-driven pipelines, and cloud-native services using Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, Databricks, and Spark
- Coordinate across data, application, and infrastructure teams to manage the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and monitoring
- Oversee migration strategies for refactoring and replatforming legacy applications and data stores into Azure and AWS
- Champion DevSecOps best practices, ensuring compliance with cloud security frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, DoD standards) and integrating security controls into all engineering work
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and government stakeholders to define engineering roadmaps and align to program goals
- Conduct technical reviews, assess architectural decisions, and lead troubleshooting/root cause analysis of critical system issues
- Drive Agile engineering delivery, ensuring sprint objectives are met and continuously improving engineering team effectiveness
- Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, continuous improvement, and technical excellence across your team
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of engineering experience in cloud and data platform development
- 3+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams (5+ members) in a cloud modernization context
- Expert-level experience with Azure cloud native services, including Data Factory, Event Hubs, Functions, Databricks, and Azure SQL
- Hands-on background in ETL pipeline development, streaming and batch data workflows, and structured/unstructured data processing
- Strong technical foundation in Python or Java, and SQL for building data transformations and APIs
- Deep understanding of CI/CD, IaC (e.g., Terraform), and DevOps practices for cloud platforms
- Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and migration strategies
- Experience working in Agile environments, leading sprints, and delivering within SAFe or Scrum frameworks
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with data architecture modernization and the development of analytics-ready data platforms
- Familiarity with GitLab or GitHub workflows, Azure DevOps, and cloud monitoring/logging tools
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and integration of compliance requirements into cloud platforms
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
- IAT Level II certification or ability to obtain within 6 months

This job posting sets forth the authorities and responsibilities of this position, which may be changed from time to time as shall be determined. The compensation range for this role is up to 180k based on the function, education, experience and qualifications of the applicants. Salary: $165000 - $180000 per year
