Job summary

Coachella Valley Water District in Palm Desert, CA, seeks an Engineering Manager for Engineering Services to lead the division handling capital improvement projects. The role directs Development, Land Survey, Right of Way, and Construction Inspection programs.

You will supervise professional and technical staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with the Director of Engineering to achieve district goals. A California PE and civil engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 7 years of professional engineering experience, 3 in program management.
• Valid California Driver's license and California PE license.

Responsibilities

• Plans, manages, and oversees the daily functions, operations, and activities of an Engineering division for capital projects.
• Participates in goal setting, budgeting, and prioritization for the division; monitors efficiency and recommends improvements.
• Develops and administers division budgets; ensures staffing, equipment, and resources are aligned with funding.
• Selects, trains, and evaluates staff; recommends disciplinary actions as needed.
• Develops scope of work and manages contracts for professional services; ensures compliance with specifications.
• Provides quality control on reports, drawings, and analyses produced by staff and consultants.
• Reviews design requirements; communicates with stakeholders and resolves design issues.
