Job summary

Milliman, Inc is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering for the Data Curation team within IntelliScript. You will lead engineers delivering backend services and data pipelines powering insurtech products, while guiding SAFe Agile practices and GenAI adoption.

You will partner with Product Management and Architecture to shape roadmaps, ensure security and compliance, and drive modernization across systems. Remote-friendly with travel to Brookfield, WI as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing multiple engineers.
• Ability to balance people management with technical leadership.
• Experience building and operating scalable backend services, data pipelines, and data processing systems.
• Strong experience with modern applications using C#/.NET, relational and non-relational databases, React or similar frontend, and API development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Serve as technical lead for your Scrum team by guiding architecture and design decisions and ensuring high-quality delivery.
• Own software delivery accountability in SAFe Agile, managing dependencies and driving predictable execution.
• Define and maintain a technology roadmap with Enterprise Architecture balancing features, reliability, and debt reduction.
• Work with Product Management to align product roadmap with business value and resources.
• Provide Level 3 production support, including incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices: code review, secure coding, unit tests, CI/CD, and observability.
• Collaborate across engineering, architecture, and platform teams to ensure cohesive platform evolution.
• Drive GenAI adoption with governance, security, and quality controls.
