Amazon Inc. in Seattle seeks a Software Development Manager to lead a Seattle-based team of engineers building AWS SDKs for multiple languages. You will drive technical direction, manage roadmaps, mentor engineers, and collaborate with sister SDK teams to ensure compatibility across services.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership with design reviews, code quality, and operator decisions while growing a sustainable, high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of direct experience in engineering teams.
• 3+ years designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• 8+ years leading the definition and development of multi tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Responsabilités

• Lead, hire, and develop a team of about 8-12 software engineers, and build a culture of ownership, high standards, and continuous learning.
• Grow engineers across the career ladder, including SDE I to SDE II and SDE II to Senior SDE promotions, and give every engineer clear, actionable feedback.
• Own the roadmap for your SDK portfolio by working backwards from customer feedback, GitHub issues, support cases, and usage data.
• Engage with the open-source community and keep your SDKs responsive, transparent, and trustworthy for developers.
• Make sound tradeoffs among speed, quality, and backward compatibility across a large, generated codebase.
