Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager for the API Gateway Workflows Team in Seattle, WA. You will grow a diverse engineering team, own the development lifecycle of services, and partner with product management to improve the customer experience.

You will set technical roadmaps, drive architectural decisions, and ensure on-time delivery of scalable, latency-sensitive software used by millions of customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Responsibilities

• Own the outcomes of a team delivering high-impact software that protects millions of customer workloads
• Manage team performance, career development, and growth through regular coaching, mentorship, and feedback
• Build and execute technical roadmaps in partnership with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure the right work is prioritized and delivered on time
• Evaluate trade-offs between operational excellence and feature development, balancing short-term needs with long-term architectural goals
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture where engineers are empowered to deliver their best work
• Drive engineering best practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and operational readiness
• Collaborate cross-functionally with security, networking, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions
