Job summary

Amazon seeks an engineering leader for the API Gateway Data Plane, based in Seattle, WA. You will grow a diverse team of engineers and own the development lifecycle of critical services supporting millions of API requests, partnering with product management to enhance customer experience.

You will set team standards, drive inclusive culture, and deliver scalable, latency‑sensitive software on time while balancing operational excellence with feature development, in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years designing or architecting scalable systems.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services.
• Knowledge of SDLC, coding standards, source control, build processes, testing, livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the outcomes of a team delivering high-impact software that protects millions of customer workloads
• Manage team performance, career development, and growth through regular coaching, mentorship, and feedback
• Build and execute technical roadmaps in partnership with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure the right work is prioritized and delivered on time
• Evaluate trade-offs between operational excellence and feature development, balancing short-term needs with long-term architectural goals
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture where engineers are empowered to deliver their best work
• Drive engineering best practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and operational readiness
• Collaborate cross-functionally with security, networking, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions
