Job summary

Yext, a leading enterprise marketing platform, seeks an engineering manager to lead Team Recon, the customer-facing intelligence layer of our Competitive Intelligence product. You will drive cross-functional collaboration with Product and Engineering to deliver impactful, AI-informed features.

Based in Rosslyn, VA, this role emphasizes in-person collaboration at least three days per week while allowing personal flexibility.

Qualifications

• A BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent college-level education
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 2+ years leading a team of 3+ software engineers
• Experience coaching engineers and supporting their development
• Experience translating priorities into technical plans and delivering
• Stay technically engaged to guide design decisions and tradeoffs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in ambiguous environments
• Track record of building healthy engineering teams with high quality
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and evaluating outputs
• Judgment on data privacy, IP, security, and confidential information with AI
• Strong technical judgment in software architecture, design, data structures, algorithms
• Fluency in Java, Go, C++, Python (code primarily in Java and Go)
• Experience recruiting, interviewing, onboarding software engineers
• Openness to new technologies and ways of working
• Comfort in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers with regular coaching
• Translate product priorities into clear team plans
• Own team execution, set priorities, and sustain cadence
• Resolve ambiguity, remove blockers, protect engineers from churn
• Maintain technical understanding and guide architecture and design
• Promote engineering quality through design reviews and testing
• Prepare team to respond to production incidents and lead follow-ups
• Foster ownership, collaboration, and open dialogue
• Coordinate dependencies with Product Engineering and partners
• Recruit, interview, and onboard engineers
• Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes
• Model responsible AI-assisted development and ensure accuracy and security
• Encourage exploration of AI capabilities and share learnings
