GitLab Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Agent Foundations: Agent Execution group.

You will lead more than 10 engineers building AI agents to run safely and effectively across GitLab, providing clarity, removing obstacles, and delivering milestones with cross-functional partners. You'll partner with product and UX to shape requirements, mentor staff engineers, and drive design reviews on sandboxing, observability, and agent harnesses using Python, Ruby, Go, or TypeScript in a

Experience leading distributed engineering teams with senior staff engineers.
Strong technical judgment and fluency with AI coding tools and agent harnesses.
Ability to apply AI to software engineering workflows and technical decision-making.

Responsibilities

Lead the Agent Tools, Agent Observability, and Runner Execution teams across frontend, backend, and AI engineering, anchored by a staff engineer.
Grow the group by hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing engineers at every level.
Collaborate with product and UX to turn ambiguous problems into shipped milestones and manage tradeoffs.
Contribute to technical design for running agents safely and at scale.
Set standards for AI tool usage, selection, and configuration.
