Job description

Description

Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to grow a high performing engineering team, building technology that accelerates the clean energy revolution! In this role, you’ll deliver high-impact software with a focus on developing people and fostering a healthy team culture.

What you get to do:

First - be curious.

Come lead 11 team members in 2 teams to help utilities adopt greener energy practices. You’ll be very customer focused. We are evolving our tech stack and you’ll help us with data driven decisions (DORA, delivery metrics, user feedback, system reliability) to make things better.

Balancing technical trade-offs with business needs to help us iteratively deliver our solutions. You will have a say in the choices we make for the product, the team, and where to invest our engineering staff. You’ll demonstrate empathy for our customers, users, and fellow Uplighters including your staff. Their career growth will flourish as you help coach and guide them.

You get to build in a Databricks environment on AWS and help us decide what our technical strategy should be. Sharing our technical vision with the team, our customers, and the rest of Uplight will let you demonstrate your knowledge of the systems so we can all build better software together.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women, marginalized genders and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Uplight we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
