Overview
The Engineering Manager leads the mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams, developing and executing high-level roadmaps and schedules. Responsible for design projects that meet safety, time, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction targets. Reports to the General Manager, with functional guidance from the VP, Engineering Programs, and collaboration with Product Management. Key Responsibilities
- Lead Engineering Strategy: Own and execute the engineering roadmap, translating business goals into clear priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Drive Project Delivery: Oversee end-to-end engineering execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality and customer requirements.
- Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with customers, operations, and leadership to define requirements, resolve issues, and deliver practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Build & Develop Talent: Recruit, lead, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, setting clear expectations and building strong technical and leadership capabilities.
- Manage Day-to-Day Operations: Allocate resources across projects, balance workloads, and ensure the team focuses on high-impact priorities.
- Own Budget & Performance: Manage engineering budgets and track key performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Quality & Continuous Improvement: Champion engineering best practices, lead root-cause problem solving, and improve processes to enhance efficiency and product reliability.
- Manage Risk & Escalation: Proactively identify risks, drive mitigation plans, and communicate effectively with senior leadership to keep projects on track.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or a closely related field (required). Master of Science in Engineering or MBA highly preferred.
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a Technical Customer contact role.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial product environment strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems including CATIA and Autodesk Inventor.
- Familiarity with engineering change management processes (ECR, TCF, HAZOP, FMEA, Design Control).
- Working knowledge of Stage-Gate product development processes and Agile or Lean engineering methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with project management and ERP tools preferred.

- Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong skills in conflict resolution, influencing without direct authority, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively work with customers, customer-facing personnel, engineers, and operations personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, drive decisions under uncertainty, and manage multiple concurrent projects.

Salary: $102,000-$130,000/year

This role requires on-site work at our office in Saugerties, NY. You will be part of a dynamic team and engage in face-to-face collaboration.
