Descripción del empleo

The Engineering Manager provides technical leadership to engineers and drafters, supports complex design decisions, and works closely with manufacturing, welding, machining, quality, and program management to ensure the successful execution of custom-engineered products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering team in designing welded and machined mechanical assemblies and structural fabrications.
  • Direct the creation and review of 3D models, fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, weldment details, machining drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure proper application of GD&T, dimensional tolerances, weld symbols, material specifications, surface finishes, and fit/function requirements.
  • Evaluate structural designs for load paths, rigidity, stress concentrations, distortion control, and manufacturability.
  • Review and approve calculations for structural integrity, weld sizing, fastener selection, bolted joints, deflection, and tolerance stack-up as required.
  • Provide technical guidance on material selection for steel and aluminum applications, considering strength, corrosion resistance, weight, and fabrication characteristics.
  • Collaborate with fabrication and machining teams to address process limitations, weld sequencing, fixturing, machinability, heat effects, and assembly methods.
  • Support design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly activities to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize lead time.
  • Manage engineering change control, drawing revisions, and release processes.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues arising during fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, or field use.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for nonconformances, dimensional discrepancies, and product failures.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, drafting practices, and design procedures.
  • Plan and prioritize engineering workloads, project deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff in design methods, standards, and fabrication-aware engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design, fabrication, or custom equipment engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering supervision or technical leadership preferred.
