SR2, a rapidly growing Series B Applied AI startup, seeks an Engineering Manager with a strong AI background to lead production-grade agentic systems in New York. You will own the engineering roadmap, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product to deliver AI capabilities.

Responsibilities span architecture, multi-agent infrastructure, performance, reliability, and hands-on coding as needed while scaling the team in a high-growth setting.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional Software/AI engineering experience.
• At least 1 year of engineering leadership or management experience.
• Direct experience building and shipping production AI or agentic systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI infrastructure, agent orchestration, and LLM-powered applications.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks, including golden datasets, LLM-as-judge, human annotation, or online monitoring.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team building production-grade AI and agentic systems.
• Own the technical architecture behind AI agents, including orchestration, model serving, latency, cost optimisation, and failure handling.
• Design and scale multi-agent evaluation infrastructure, including LLM-as-judge pipelines, golden datasets, and human annotation tooling.
• Drive the development of internal tooling to test, evaluate, and improve agent performance.
• Establish engineering best practices around reliability, observability, scalability, and production performance.
• Work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to define technical direction and deliver the AI roadmap.
• Remain hands-on with architecture, system design, code reviews, and complex technical decisions.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, building a high-performing AI engineering function.

What you will be doing:

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional Software/AI engineering experience.

• Hands-on experience with AI infrastructure, agent orchestration, and LLM-powered applications.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks, including golden datasets, LLM-as-judge, human annotation, or online monitoring.
• Strong system design and software architecture fundamentals.
• Comfortable making technical decisions around model behaviour, AI infrastructure, and production trade-offs.
• Ability to lead through ambiguity and translate complex problems into clear engineering roadmaps.
• Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with Product teams.

It’s a Bonus If You Have:

• Experience building multi-agent systems and complex agentic workflows.
• Experience with workflow-heavy enterprise SaaS or infrastructure products.
• Exposure to regulated industries such as construction, logistics, or government.
• Experience scaling AI engineering teams within a high-growth startup.
