Job summary

Lear Corporation in Roscommon, MI is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering and maintenance activities at the Roscommon Plant. You will direct, coordinate and review work plans, drive continuous improvements, and ensure KPI targets such as MTBF and MTTR are met.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 5+ years in engineering within manufacturing, strong communication, and expertise in electrical systems, PLCs, AutoCAD, and CMMS tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years working in the Engineering function.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of engineering.
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards such as GMP, OSHA, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering for system interactions, sizing, and fuses.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC software, ladder logic.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent for 2D layouts.
  • Skill with basic hand tools and torque calibration tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Critical path management for Launch scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Project Management.
  • Ability to analyze data to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work in a team to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate functions and programs within Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Set goals, priorities, and manage resources.
  • Develop concepts using core standards and best practices to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Review progress and results of projects and tasks.
  • Liaise with staff, project managers, contractors, and other agencies to facilitate production processes.
  • Oversee design and equipment development for manufacturing facilities and automation.

Job Description

ENGINEERING MANAGER
ROSCOMMON, MI – ROSCOMMON PLANT

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Perform engineering work related to planning, devising, or adapting methods to improve manufacturing production
  • Examine equipment, processes, operations, and assembly to determine time or quality revisions, and suggests improvements
  • Evaluate vendor and supplier proposals for new equipment purchases
  • Oversee the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities such as downtime and change analysis and procedure development
  • Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned engineering operations and functions
  • Assign work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures
  • Oversee and participate in performing a broad range of design activities on a variety of projects including automated equipment, storm drainage facilities, lighting, landscaping, water production and distribution facilities, and buildings
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Review design conformance and accuracy of plans to coordinate improvement projects with staff, project managers, contractors, utility companies and other agencies
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Oversee facilities and equipment preventative maintenance and repair responsibilities
  • Liaison to corporate engineering resources
  • Create and manage technical budgets
  • Ensure that role-driven operational key performance indicator (KPI) targets are met, including mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) and mean-time-to-repair (MTTR)

Qualifications

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years working in the Engineering function
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent - Ability to modify and develop 2D layouts

  • Knowledge Quality Systems on Automotive industry quality system requirements (i.e. IATF16949, ISO 14001)
  • MVPOne or equivalent Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience
Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate assigned functions and programs within theEngineering and Maintenance Departmentsto include planning, process and equipment development. Incumbents in this classification are responsible for setting goals, establishing priorities, managing resources, developing concepts and approaches, and reviewing projects progress and results. Utilizing leading technology, core standards, best practices to provide the best quality and efficiency in the industry.
