Job summary

StaffBright in Belton, MO seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop its engineering organization within a high-volume automotive manufacturing setting. You will own engineering operations, drive continuous improvement, and support growth initiatives across manufacturing, automation, and equipment projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and ERP systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems or regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering department, overseeing mechanical, manufacturing, process, and project engineering functions.
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with production needs and growth.
  • Drive manufacturing improvements focused on efficiency, quality, cost reduction, and waste elimination.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee capital equipment projects from concept through implementation, including budgeting and vendor management.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex manufacturing systems and automation.
  • Manage ERP configurator systems, BOMs, routings, and pricing logic.
  • Support new product launches, process readiness, and capacity improvements.
  • Establish engineering standards, KPIs, documentation, and best practices.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and project portfolios in line with business objectives.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent with succession planning.
  • Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance while maintaining external relationships.

Our client, a globally recognized automotive manufacturer in Belton, MO, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop its engineering organization within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to take ownership of engineering operations, drive continuous improvement and advanced manufacturing initiatives, and play a key role in supporting the company’s continued growth.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the engineering department, overseeing mechanical, manufacturing, process, and project engineering functions
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with company goals, production needs, customer requirements, and long-term growth
  • Drive manufacturing improvements focused on efficiency, quality, cost reduction, waste elimination, and process capability
  • Lead VAVE and continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with operations, quality, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams
  • Oversee capital equipment and technology projects from concept through implementation, including budgeting, vendor management, installation, and commissioning
  • Provide technical leadership for complex manufacturing systems, automation, controls, material handling, painting and finishing systems, curing processes, and related equipment
  • Manage ERP configurator systems and ensure the accuracy of product configurations, BOMs, routings, pricing logic, and manufacturing data
  • Support new product launches, process readiness, equipment upgrades, preventive maintenance strategies, and manufacturing capacity improvements
  • Establish engineering standards, KPIs, documentation, and best practices to measure performance and improve operational results
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, priorities, and project portfolios while ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify future technology, automation, manufacturing capability, and workforce needs
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, with a focus on technical growth, succession planning, and organizational capability
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards while supporting customer, supplier, and external technical relationships

What We Need From You

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency with CAD software and ERP systems
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems or regulatory compliance
