Working closely with leaders across the organization, the Engineering Manager ensures customer requirements are translated into executable production processes, engineering support is delivered in a timely manner, and new capabilities are successfully integrated into the business. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound business and operational judgment, and the ability to balance daily production support with longer-term initiatives that expand Hohman's technical capabilities and support future growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the engineering organization by establishing priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring engineering efforts support the company's operational, customer, and growth objectives.
  • Develop, coach, and build a high-performing engineering organization through clear expectations, accountability, training, and succession planning.
  • Ensure engineering resources are effectively deployed to support production, resolve technical issues, and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Oversee planning and engineering workflows, ensuring new work, engineering holds, customer requests, and improvement initiatives are appropriately prioritized and executed.
  • Lead the successful introduction of new processes, capabilities, and major technical initiatives from concept through stable production implementation.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure customer requirements are effectively evaluated, defined, and translated into executable production processes.
  • Ensure effective technical engagement with customers, supporting capability discussions, project planning, problem resolution, and long-term relationship development.
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering systems, processes, documentation, and standard work to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Monitor engineering performance through key metrics and regularly communicate priorities, risks, resource needs, and project status to leadership.
  • Support strategic planning, capital investment decisions, and capability development efforts that strengthen Hohman's competitive position and enable future growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or another technical field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, process development, or technical operations, with demonstrated success leading people, projects, and cross-functional priorities.
  • Strong operational judgment with the ability to balance technical requirements, customer needs, production flow, business priorities, and resource constraints.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop engineers or technical professionals through clear priorities, accountability, coaching, and practical problem solving.
  • Experience managing engineering workflows, production support, new work introduction, technical projects, or process improvement initiatives in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, engineers, operators, managers, and senior leadership, translating technical issues into clear business and operational decisions.
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and follow-through skills, with the ability to keep daily support work moving while protecting longer-term improvement and capability-development efforts.
