Job summary

RTT Finishing Solutions in Rockwall, TX seeks an on-site Engineering Manager to lead the 3D engineering team and own production-facing engineering data in Epicor, including routings, BOMs, labor standards, and CNC programs.

You will guide CAD standards, manage external partners, and partner with operations to improve manufacturability, costing, and scheduling while building a high-performing engineering culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with leadership
• Experience leading 3D drafting/engineering teams
• Strong understanding of metal fabrication including welding and forming
• ERP integration of engineering data with manufacturing operations (Epicor preferred)
• Experience maintaining routings, BOMs, labor standards, and master data
• SolidWorks proficiency and PDM/Vault usage
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• PE license preferred in Structural or Civil with a structural focus

Responsibilities

• Own production engineering data within Epicor, including routings, BOMs, labor standards, and overhead drivers
• Define weld assumptions, material utilization, and costing logic for capacity planning
• Establish engineering change control processes affecting production methods and cost
• Lead Epicor implementation, stabilization, and data integration with manufacturing
• Coordinate with external engineering partners to meet design requirements and standards
• Lead, develop, and coordinate internal 3D engineering and CAD partners
• Develop and maintain 3D modeling standards aligned with ERP and manufacturing needs
• Maintain synchronization between released 3D models, BOMs, and routings
• Support SolidWorks and PDM/Vault usage and release procedures
• Coordinate programming resources to support production priorities
• Refine manufacturability and tooling assumptions with plant leadership
• Drive continuous improvement in throughput and waste reduction

Our product line includes paint and powder coating booths, curing ovens, air make-up units, and complete industrial finishing systems.

We are looking to add an on-site Engineering Manager to our team in Rockwall, Texas. This position leads RTT's 3D engineering function while owning the production-facing engineering systems, standards, and data that support our custom metal manufacturing operations. The Engineering Manager will provide hands-on leadership and direction to the 3D engineering team, ensuring approved designs are translated into accurate manufacturing information, including 3D models, routings, labor standards, and CNC programs within Epicor. This role is also a key engineering leader in our ERP environment, ensuring engineering data supports accurate costing, scheduling, and scalable production while partnering closely with operations and plant leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership, Manufacturing Engineering & ERP Ownership

• Own production engineering data within Epicor, including routings, bills of material, labor standards, and overhead drivers.
• Define weld assumptions, material utilization logic, and process constraints required for accurate costing and capacity planning.
• Establish engineering change control processes impacting production methods, cost, or throughput.
• Serve as the primary engineering leader supporting Epicor implementation, stabilization, and ongoing process optimization, with responsibility for ensuring engineering processes and data are effectively integrated within the ERP system.
• Coordinate with external engineering partners to ensure deliverables align with established design requirements, quality expectations, and manufacturing standards.

3D Engineering Leadership & CAD Standards

• Lead, develop, and coordinate the internal 3D engineering/drafting team and external CAD partners to support engineering and production objectives.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, workload prioritization, and accountability for the 3D engineering team, building a high-performing and collaborative engineering function.
• Develop and maintain 3D modeling standards that align with manufacturing processes, ERP requirements, and programming needs.
• Maintain synchronization and revision control between released 3D models, bills of materials (BOMs), and routings.
• Support and uphold SolidWorks and PDM/Vault standards, including system usage, access controls, and release procedures.

Programming and Manufacturing Methods

• Coordinate programming resources to support production priorities and manufacturing objectives.
• Partner with the Plant leadership to refine manufacturability, tooling assumptions, and process capability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives tied to throughput, repeatability, and waste reduction.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred, including experience in a leadership or team‑lead capacity
• Strong leadership experience with a proven ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable engineers, 3D drafters/designers, or programmers
• Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, including welding and forming
• Strong ERP experience required, including experience integrating engineering data and processes with manufacturing operations; Epicor experience is highly preferred
• Experience developing or maintaining manufacturing routings, bills of materials, labor standards, and engineering master data
• SolidWorks proficiency and experience with PDM/Vault systems
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus is preferred
