Job summary

Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company, part of the PPL Corporation family, are offering an intern level position in the utility industry. The internship provides hands-on experience under close supervision with challenging assignments, networking opportunities, and mentorship from experienced energy professionals.

Intern will perform maintenance activities, learn the use of hand tools, assist colleagues, and gain exposure to power plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field.
• Minimum 2.50 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance activities as required to maintain, repair, inspect, install, rebuild, construct, and troubleshoot various power plant equipment.
• Learn the proper use of hand tools, power tools, hoist, drill presses, grinders, and other tools and equipment pertaining to the work.
• Assist employees in carrying out work assignments.
• Clean equipment undergoing repairs, handle and move material, supplies and equipment in connection with the work and work area.
• Be able to learn to make and read simple drawings and sketches.
• Prepare and take the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) POSS/MASS test measuring job responsive aptitude, ability to retain knowledge, and problem solving skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
