Region 4 Education Service Center in Houston, TX seeks an Assistant Director of Software Engineering to lead the software engineering function for DevelopWorks and related products. You will direct design, development, and delivery, aligning tech roadmap with product priorities and supervising a team of engineers.

The role emphasizes architecture leadership, cloud and DevOps practices, and cross-functional collaboration with Product Development and TEA partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Ten years of software engineering experience.
• Three years of people management or team leadership.
• Experience delivering software products through full lifecycle.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum practices and cloud/DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Software Engineering team across Cloud, Backend/API, and Full-Stack engineering.
• Own the technical architecture and code quality for DevelopWorks and other Region 4 products.
• Translate product requirements into engineering sprints and track delivery progress.
• Coordinate with vendors and other departments to meet timelines.
