Job summary

Chugach Electric Association seeks a Vice President of Engineering to steer the Engineering department, oversee design, construction, and planning of power delivery facilities, and align initiatives with corporate objectives.

The role requires extensive leadership, budgeting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure reliable service and strategic growth in Alaska.

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible experience in engineering design, construction and maintenance of substations, transmission lines and distribution facilities.
• Experience in a union environment preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer, State of Alaska required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power option preferred.
• Master’s degree in engineering management or business administration preferred.
• NRECA Management Intern Program certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and oversee the engineering and construction of Chugach’s power delivery facilities.
• Review and approve the design and construction of new electrical facilities for continuity of electrical service across the system.
• Support annual and long-term construction plans and related budgets in alignment with Chugach’s objectives.
• Provide leadership and guidance for development and implementation of processes, procedures, and optimization for department functions.
• Develop, propose, and secure approval of an organizational structure and staffing to meet present and future needs.
• Oversee training and development of staff and evaluate training investments.
• Prepare and administer Department budget and develop annual action plan.
• Represent Chugach in external projects with other utilities and agencies.
