Job summary

Chugach Electric Association in Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead civil and structural design for transmission lines, substations, and switchyards. You will collaborate with electrical engineers, prepare construction documents, and participate in QA/QC and project coordination.

The role requires a civil/structural engineering degree, Alaska PE or the ability to obtain, and experience with utility projects. On-site work with occasional field duties and travel may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering is required.
• FE exam completed preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Alaska or ability to obtain is required.
• Experience in utility/transmission projects preferred.
• Experience with QA/QC and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design civil/structural elements for transmission lines, substations, and switchyards from scoping through commissioning.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers on equipment arrangements, clearances, and grounding.
• Inspect construction and ensure QA/QC compliance; seal documents when licensed.
• Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and schedules; review submittals.
• Develop and maintain unit cost data and evaluate construction methods.
