Job summary

Stryten Energy is hiring a Lead Engineer in Columbus, OH, to establish and sustain efficient, repeatable processes for plastic injection molding operations. You will lead maintenance, tooling, and automation initiatives, driving scrap reduction and cycle time improvements.

You will oversee teams, coordinate with Project Controls, and develop training programs to elevate capability across setup mechanics, machinists, and mold technicians.

Qualifications

• Engineering/Plastics engineering degree required.
• 4 years plastics experience.
• 4 years fixture and downstream equipment design.
• Proficient with CAD drawing packages.
• Strong leadership and training abilities.

Job DescriptionOverview

Stryten uses a proven plastic injection molding methodology to produce critical automotive, motive and essential power battery components. Our light industrial facility in Columbus is hiring for a Lead Engineer.

The objective of the Engineering Leader is to establish and maintain effective, efficient and repeatable processes. The Engineer Leader also supports production personnel with solutions to overall performance problems.

Responsibilities

• Ability to effectively manage time and meet specified deadlines.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures including the use of PPE and safety equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Continuously improve the general housekeeping, organization of equipment, tools, and supplies to keep workstations as efficient as possible.
• Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
• The Lead Engineer will oversee solutions for maintenance, controls, machinist and mold mechanic personnel for troubleshooting events, process improvements, capital investment projects, tooling modifications and repairs.
• Analyze data on predictive preventative maintenance for optimal improvement opportunities.
• Scope, spec, and assist in the design of plastic injection molding equipment and tooling.
• Develop and execute scrap reduction and cycle reductions.
• Work with Project Controls team on troubleshooting of injection molding machine issues.
• Assist Project Controls team with commissioning of automation equipment for injection molding machines.
• Grow knowledge of the facility team by implementing training programs for setup mechanics, machinist, and mold mechanics.
• Assist safety department in risk assessment of injection molding machines and machining equipment.

Qualifications

• 4 years of plastics experience and 4 years of fixture and downstream equipment design.
• Engineering/Plastics Engineering Degree required.
• Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance). This must be maintained.
• Attendance is critical to this position.
• Proficient with CAD drawing packages and able to update drawing packages as needed.
• Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database software
• Familiar with all aspects of scientific injection molding process.
• Must be able to provide good Leadership and training as required.
• Project Management.
• Excellent communication and documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
