Job summary

Stryten Energy in Columbus, IN is seeking a Lead Engineer to establish and maintain repeatable processes for plastic injection molding. You will lead maintenance, controls and tooling projects and support production with performance improvements.

The role requires a plastics/engineering degree, 4 years in plastics and fixture/downstream design, CAD proficiency, and strong leadership. You will mentor setup mechanics and mold technicians, and collaborate with project controls on automation

Qualifications

• Engineering/Plastics Engineering degree required.

• Strong MS Office and database software skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, controls, machinist and mold mechanic personnel.
• Analyze data on predictive preventative maintenance for optimization.
• Scope, spec and assist in design of injection molding equipment and tooling.
• Develop and execute scrap and cycle reductions.
• Collaborate with Project Controls on troubleshooting molding machine issues.
• Assist commissioning of automation equipment for molding machines.
• Train setup mechanics, machinists, and mold mechanics.
• Assist safety in risk assessment of molding and machining equipment.

Stryten uses a proven plastic injection molding methodology to produce critical automotive, motive and essential power battery components. Our light industrial facility in Columbus is hiring for a Lead Engineer.

The objective of the Engineering Leader is to establish and maintain effective, efficient and repeatable processes. The Engineer Leader also supports production personnel with solutions to overall performance problems.

• Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
• The Lead Engineer will oversee solutions for maintenance, controls, machinist and mold mechanic personnel for troubleshooting events, process improvements, capital investment projects, tooling modifications and repairs.
• Analyze data on predictive preventative maintenance for optimal improvement opportunities.
• Scope, spec, and assist in the design of plastic injection molding equipment and tooling.
• Develop and execute scrap reduction and cycle reductions.
• Work with Project Controls team on troubleshooting of injection molding machine issues.
• Assist Project Controls team with commissioning of automation equipment for injection molding machines.
• Grow knowledge of the facility team by implementing training programs for setup mechanics, machinist, and mold mechanics.
• Assist safety department in risk assessment of injection molding machines and machining equipment
• 4 years of plastics experience and 4 years of fixture and downstream equipment design.
• Engineering/Plastics Engineering Degree required.
• Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance). This must be maintained.
• Attendance is critical to this position.
• Proficient with CAD drawing packages and able to update drawing packages as needed.
• Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database software
• Familiar with all aspects of scientific injection molding process.
• Must be able to provide good Leadership and training as required.
• Project Management.
• Excellent communication and documentation.
