Curious is seeking an Automation Engineer to design and deploy AI-powered systems across multiple SaaS companies. The role emphasizes hands-on production code, building and deploying agents, and integrating AI tooling into daily workflows.
The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous environments, tests ideas rapidly, and ships reliable automation. This contract position could convert to full-time after impact validation with leadership collaboration.
We are looking for a highly technical AI-native engineer to help design and implement AI systems across our portfolio of companies.
This role will begin as a contract position, with the potential to convert to full-time after validating impact.
The role sits within Curious Head Office and works directly with our CEOs and engineering teams to identify inefficiencies and build practical automation systems that improve how our companies operate.
You will design and deploy AI systems across multiple SaaS businesses, solving real operational and product challenges across engineering, support, revenue, and internal workflows.
This is not a prompt engineering role. We are looking for someone with a strong engineering background and hands‑on experience building and deploying AI‑powered systems or agents.
Candidates should have strong backend engineering experience and be comfortable writing production code, working within codebases, building APIs and automation services, and designing systems that run reliably in production. Experience with languages such as Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar is expected.
Candidates should also be comfortable designing systems that operate in production environments, including working with APIs, distributed services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. Experience deploying AI systems that interact with real software systems — not just standalone models or prompt workflows — is strongly preferred.
You should have experience designing, building, testing, and deploying AI agents or automation systems in real environments, and be comfortable using modern AI development tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or similar as part of your workflow.
You will work alongside product and engineering teams to integrate AI development tools into day-to-day workflows to improve development velocity and product quality.
You will also work directly with company leadership to implement AI‑powered workflows across operational and revenue functions, including customer support, lead scoring, outreach, accounts receivable, and internal operations.
A large part of this role is identifying blind spots and helping us design better systems.
If your experience with AI is primarily prompting tools or building no‑code automations rather than writing production code and deploying systems, this role is likely not the right fit.
Strong engineering background
You can write code, understand codebases, and work alongside engineers comfortably.
Experience building and deploying AI agents
You’ve built agentic workflows or automation systems that are running in real environments.
Native fluency with AI development tools
You regularly use tools like Claude Code, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or similar systems as part of your development workflow.
Systems thinker
You naturally look for inefficiencies and think in terms of workflows, processes, and automation opportunities.
Builder mentality
You move quickly, test ideas, ship solutions, and iterate.
Comfort with ambiguity
Many of the problems in this role will not be clearly defined.
Experience with agent frameworks or orchestration systems (LangChain, AutoGen, or similar)
Experience implementing automation across operational or revenue workflows
Implementing AI‑assisted development workflows with engineering teams
Building agents to automate internal operations and repetitive workflows
Designing systems that improve support, QA, and revenue operations
Helping teams adopt modern AI development tooling effectively
Identifying bottlenecks in how companies operate and building solutions
Decades, Not Days
We are long‑term minded. That shows up in the companies we operate, the decisions we make, and the way we treat people. Our word is our bond and legacy is our guide.
Relentlessly Curious
We love people who question assumptions and explore better ways of doing things.
Simply Transparent
We operate with radical honesty and avoid unnecessary complexity.
Fully Autonomous
We hire great people and trust them to do great work.
Once Curious, Always Curious
Everyone who joins Curious is part of the family long after they leave.
Adversity Seekers
We run toward hard problems.
