Job summary

Toyota Material Handling North America seeks an Engineering Assistant Manager for Energy Systems Product Health to lead technical health after launch. You’ll guide cross-functional teams through triage, investigation, and resolution of complex issues, driving corrective actions and product reliability.

Based in Rochester, NY, the role blends energy systems expertise with leadership, engineering planning, and collaboration across electrical, mechanical, software, and controls domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional engineering experience in product development, sustaining, reliability, or product health.
• 1+ year of engineering leadership experience.
• Hands-on with lithium-ion batteries, fuel cells, chargers, power electronics, or energy storage systems.
• Strong systems-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and priorities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Energy Systems Product Health team in resolving technical issues across electrical, mechanical, software, controls, and systems integration disciplines.
• Own product issue triage, including scope, priority, team assignment, resource needs, and escalation based on customer impact and risk.
• Facilitate Product Health reviews and communicate status, risks, priorities, and plans to key stakeholders.
• Drive root cause analysis, containment, corrective action, validation, and engineering changes.
• Analyze telematics, diagnostic logs, field performance, manufacturing, testing, and warranty data to identify trends.
• Strengthen Product Health processes, workflows, and governance using JIRA, Smartsheet, and Excel.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance and feedback.
• Participate in design reviews and launch-readiness activities to support transition after launch.
• Apply field learnings to improve future development.
