Job summary

Skilcraft is seeking an Industrial Engineer Co-op in Kentucky to assist plant leadership in designing and executing continuous improvement initiatives aimed at safety, quality, delivery and production efficiency.

The candidate should be a current UC or college engineering student in good standing and will engage in capital equipment projects, training, workflow optimization, standardization and optimization of materials and processes across the plant.

Responsibilities

• Installation of new equipment and systems.
• Creation work instructions for production processes of new and existing equipment.
• Assisting with training of appropriate personnel on new equipment and systems.
• Researching and recommending the flow and layout for new equipment placement and the overall flow of plant for efficiency.
• Participation in creation of and maintenance of a system for standardizing work, documenting processes, confirming quality and integrating team members into continuous improvement culture.
• Assessing efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement methods, and elimination of wasteful practices with recommendations to leadership.
• Coordinating training for all production staff and team members per established training requirements.
• Reviewing visual management, 5S and lean manufacturing waste initiatives and advising leadership.
• Leading and facilitating formal and informal continuous improvement initiatives resulting in cost, scrap and waste reductions and gains in quality and productivity; implementing statistical process controls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:?

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

Capital Equipment Projects

Working with plant leadership, maintenance, and the engineering team the IE co-op will assist in:

• Installation of new equipment and systems.
• Creation work instructions for production processes of new and existing equipment.
• Assisting with training of appropriate personnel on new equipment and systems.
• Researching and recommending the flow and layout for new equipment placement and the overall flow of plant for efficiency.
• Participates in creation of and maintains a system for standardizing work, documenting processes, confirming quality for all areas of focus and properly integrating all plant team members into continuous improvement culture.
• Assesses efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement methods, and elimination of wasteful practices and makes recommendations to leadership
• Coordinates training for all production staff and team members per established training requirements.
• Reviews visual management, 5S and lean manufacturing waste initiatives advises leadership with .
• Leads and facilitates the completion of formal and informal continuous improvement initiatives resulting in cost, scrap and waste reductions and gains in quality and productivity. Implements statistical process controls to support to institutionalize process improvements.
