Job summary

Diamondback Energy in Midland, Texas is seeking an Engineering Intern who will join a specific department (facilities, production, drilling, completions, reservoir engineering, or operations) and own an assigned summer project supporting that business function.

The internship runs approximately 12 weeks (May–August 2027) with on-site field visits to learn field operations and an active drilling rig, plus opportunities to present findings to Diamondback's upper management.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering; must return to school Fall 2027.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• Willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship.
• Returning to school for Fall 2027 semester

Responsibilities

• Work on an assigned, individual engineering project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation to Diamondback's upper management.
• Develop engineering skills under the supervision and guidance of an assigned mentor.
• Work directly with other engineers and disciplines to experience oil & gas Exploration and Production operations.
• Analyze well production data, decline curves, and pressure trends to support production forecasting.
• Support drilling and completions engineering work, including offset well reviews and cost tracking.
• Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and completions spread.
• Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors in the Midland–Odessa community
