Job summary

Allient Inc. in Oshkosh, WI is seeking 6–8 engineering interns to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will work with senior engineers on design, BOM updates, and transformer construction tasks, learning industry practices and testing methods.

These internships offer collaboration with engineering, production, and lab staff to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements. Mentorship provided.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year college program in engineering, physics, or a related field.
• 0–4 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Interest in gaining hands‑on engineering and manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production, and lab personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assist the engineering team with day-to-day activities, including part specification creation and revisions, SolidWorks drawing updates, and bill of materials (BOM) changes.
• Learn company and industry engineering practices, design principles, and product knowledge to support general engineering tasks.
• Utilize design software and proprietary techniques to analyze designs and gain an understanding of transformer construction.
• Collaborate with production floor staff and lab personnel to learn testing procedures, quality requirements, and aspects of mass production.
• Analyze new and existing designs to identify cost‑saving opportunities and production improvements.
• Prepare engineering packets that include customer drawings, similar unit references, applicable industry standards, and producibility considerations.
• Support mass‑update projects for older product series, including updates to drawings, kit sheets, BOMs, and process sheets.
• Complete work under the guidance and review of senior engineers.
