Job summary

CLARK Material Handling Company in Lexington, KY invites engineering students for an internship. The Engineering Intern will apply academic knowledge to real projects, perform analytical tasks, test systems, and support corrective actions on material handling equipment.

You will work with senior engineers, use hand tools, read blueprints, and gain hands-on experience with ERP data, BOMs, and data analysis. Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering.
• CAD knowledge or experience preferred; Siemens NX experience is a plus.
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Access.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, installation and process sheets, and wiring diagrams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools and pneumatic tools.
• Ability to lift and handle assembly components weighing up to 50 pounds and operate lifting devices as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without Sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Plan, perform, and coordinate analytical activities under a senior engineer.
• Assist with various projects, administrative tasks, and departmental needs.
• Participate in a Lowest Cost of Ownership (LCO) project for material handling equipment.
• Assist with testing products, systems, and components for functionality, safety, and durability.
• Analyze databases and performance trends to develop reports and recommendations.
• Work with suppliers to identify and acquire new parts based on blueprints and specifications.
• Utilize ERP to review, correct, and enter data related to BOMs and engineering functions.
• Review corrective actions to evaluate implementation and effectiveness; verify actions at the factory.
• Identify additional corrective actions based on failure trend analysis; perform root-cause analysis when possible.
• Develop a tracking system to document corrective actions and effectiveness.
• Collect and analyze dealer maintenance data to identify cost drivers.
• Participate in building, assembly, and disassembly of forklifts and components.
