Job summary

Clark Material Handling Company in Lexington, KY seeks a Design Engineer to join a project team responsible for the design and redesign of lift trucks and related components. You will gather data, develop concepts, and work with Marketing, Manufacturing, Vendors, Purchasers and other Engineers to deliver robust solutions.

Responsibilities include performing calculations, creating NX drawings, conducting tests, and ensuring compliance with UL, NFPA, ANSI, ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience, with an emphasis on mobile equipment design.
• Basic mechanical understanding of forklift design and operation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel abroad including North America and internationally.
• Must be able to work in the U.S. indefinitely.

Responsibilities

• Gather data concerning the product and its design from sources such as customer comments, warranty reports and performance testing.
• Coordinate efforts with Marketing, Manufacturing, Vendors, Purchasers, Customers and other Engineers.
• Perform and oversee quality checks to ensure trucks meet specifications.
• Conduct testing procedures, analyze results and implement corrective actions.
• Create and develop designs using NX drafting system and prepare drawings.
• Perform mechanical, electrical or hydraulic calculations and analyze design attributes.
• Communicate designs and changes and present recommendations to teams.
• Oversee prototype assembly, testing and validation of designs.
• Ensure compliance with UL, NFPA, ANSI, ISO and related standards.
