Job summary

The Madison, Wisconsin office of GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to perform a broad range of engineering and environmental support duties.

The internship offers hands-on experience in grading surveys, AutoCAD drawings, field sampling, and preparing design calculations, project reports, and bidding documents while working with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of civil, geotechnical, or environmental BS schooling completed.
• Previous experience with construction oversight and documentation is preferred.
• Excellent writing and organizational skills and a valid driver’s license are required.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Preference for candidates with experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and performing survey work.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and scientists on a variety of engineering and environmental projects.
• Perform grading surveys and project layouts.
• Complete AutoCAD drawings and material takeoffs.
• Assist with preparation of design calculations, project reports, and bidding documents.
• Perform general site field services including soil sampling, transporting samples, delivering samples to laboratory, and filling out testing forms and field reports.
