BD is seeking a part-time engineering intern at our Sandy, UT campus. This internship (minimum 15 hours weekly) provides hands-on experience under the mentorship of Senior Engineers.

You’ll contribute to meaningful projects while developing professional skills. You’ll drive real solutions, collaborate with production teams, and learn Six-sigma and validation concepts while supporting design, troubleshooting and continual improvement.

Qualificações

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college engineering program; preferred Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Must be able to commute to BD Sandy, UT office.

Responsabilidades

• Drive real solutions by providing critical daily support to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
• Collaborate with production personnel to improve equipment operation and implement process improvements.
• Develop technical troubleshooting skills by diagnosing and repairing production equipment with maintenance professionals.
• Design the future by assisting project leaders with design, modeling, component coordination, and validated improvements.
• Tackle production challenges by representing engineering on TPM teams to identify and solve recurring issues.
• Master validation principles with specialized BD training and apply these skills under guidance.
• Learn Six-sigma methodology with Six-sigma Lite training and apply these techniques daily.
• Lead engineering initiatives by taking ownership of smaller projects and short-term production support.
• Uphold safety and quality standards in line with BD policies and regulations.

Mechanical Engineering major (preferred)

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Drive Real Solutions - Provide critical daily support to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams

• Collaborate with Production Teams - Work alongside production personnel to improve equipment operation and implement process improvements

• Develop Technical Troubleshooting Skills - Learn to diagnose and repair production equipment alongside our maintenance professionals

• Design the Future - Assist project leaders with technical tasks including design, modeling, component coordination, and implementing validated improvements

• Tackle Production Challenges - Represent engineering on TPM teams to identify, isolate, and solve recurring production issues

• Master Validation Principles - Receive specialized BD validation training and apply these critical skills under expert guidance

• Learn Six‑sigma Methodology - Gain "Six‑sigma Lite" training and apply these powerful problem‑solving techniques daily

• Lead Engineering Initiatives - Take ownership of smaller engineering projects and short‑term production support initiatives

• Uphold Safety & Quality Standards - Comply with all BD, local, state, and federal safety regulations, including RCRA Hazardous Waste protocols

• Champion Quality Assurance - Apply sound quality principles in alignment with BD's commitment to excellence

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University/College Engineering program; preferred majors are Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

• Must be able to commute to BD Sandy, UT office.
