Job summary

Metromont LLC offers an internship providing hands-on experience in precast concrete manufacturing and structural design. You will work with plant experts and experienced engineers, applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects.

You will gain exposure to various departments and participate in site visits, with opportunities to assist in design work, review drawings, and complete a mock project while following safety rules.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to plant operations including Steel Fab, Material Handling, Quality Control, Carpentry Shop, Batch Plant, Dry/Wet Finishing.
• Participate in project site visits to gain understanding of the erection process.
• Assist in structural design with experienced engineers; support design and analysis of various structures using industry-standard software.
• Review drawings under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Complete a mock design project.
• Must adhere to Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

POSITION PURPOSE

You will work closely with plant experts and experienced engineers, gaining valuable insights into the field of precast concrete and structural engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gain exposure to plant operations including these departments:

EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of structural engineering principles and concepts.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant engineering software (preferred).
• Experience with 3D modeling software (preferred)
• Knowledge of building codes and construction practices (preferred)
• Prior internship or co‑op experience in a related field (preferred)

WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE

• Works in the plant and office environment
• Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; hours may very while training in production areas
• Plant work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions
• Indoor, outdoor/sheltered and unsheltered
• Noise level is moderate

PPE only required with working in the plant

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a hybrid plant and office position that requires sitting, standing, and walking. This position requires standing for long periods of time, lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and bending, repetitive motion with medium force, and an ability to frequently climb up to 15 feet above ground using stairs
